What would it sound like to perform the weather forecast on three synths? And what if you put them on a long-distance train? The piano supertrio Ki Ki Ki – founded by Marcel Baliński (of Współgłosy, also performing at this year’s festival), Grzegorz Tarwid (HOSHII), and Piotr Zabrodzski (LXMP) – have dropped some clues into the track titles for how to navigate their debut album. But there’s much more under the surface of the LP Portale, which evokes even more unexpected associations, places, and images. Improvising on vintage keyboards, the trio conjure up a cosmic blend of electronic music, jazz, and krautrock. No need to buckle up: just keep your ears and mind open.
