Nala Sinephro
Asked to describe her music, Nala Sinephro says, “I close my eyes and process the emotions I feel without needing to say anything.” Music journalists have debated whether to call the her work spiritual jazz or a unique form of electronic music. Instead of deconstructing her style, we recommend simply immersing yourself in her therapeutic sounds – literally: the London-based Belgian-Caribbean, signed to Warp Records, says playing the harp is a form of therapy, and invites listeners to join in. The mystical and meditative qualities of her compositions are the result of collaborative efforts with a list of artists that includes Ezra Collective sax player James Mollison, Kokoroko frontwoman Sheila Maurice-Grey, and Black Midi drummer Morgan Simpson. Experience the healing sounds for yourself at the OFF Festival.
