Julia Rover
She was writing lyrics in bed, under the covers, when Rat One of the duo Rat Kru pulled her out and into the studio, where they teamed up on a number of songs, including the single “Karmel,” and Julia ended up appearing on a couple of the band’s tracks (including “Bloki,” with Grubson). She released her debut album several years later with a different, but no less interesting, lineup of artists. The dance sound of her LP Co z tobą is the work of The Very Polish Cut Outs: Pejzaż, Tamten and Freux. The album itself was published by The Very Polish Originals, a new label devoted to original Polish music. Asked what film she’d like to see her songs used in as a soundtrack, she said: “Something by Wim Wenders.” Think of some more ideas, and let’s visualize them together in August at the OFF Festival.
