Altın Gün

The Amsterdam-based sextet Altın Gün singlehandedly sparked a renaissance of Anatolian rock and introduced the genre to Western audiences. The Best Global Music Album nomination for their LP Gece is all the proof you need. But Altın Gün aren’t happy to just combine psychedelic rock with Turkish folk music; Âlem, the group’s fourth album (2001), features a smattering of disco grooves, significantly boosting the danceability. What’s more, you can party while doing your part to save the planet: thanks to a partnership with Earth Today, each digital song purchased from the band’s catalog goes to saving one square meter of the natural environment.
